Review: Benefit Stay Don't Stray...

Like face primer, I swear by eye shadow primer and I've been hooked on Benefit's Stay Don't Stray since I received a small sampler about a year and a half ago so much so I'm onto my second full size tube.
Benefit's Stay Don't Stray primer is a skin coloured primer available in two shades 'Light/Medium' and 'Medium/Deep' - I use 'Light/Medium'. The skin coloured pigment helps cover up imperfections on your eyelid whilst ensuring your eye makeup stays put all day - this is the main reason why I favour it over other eye primers. I find this primer very nice to use as it blends easily due to its creamy texture and helps create a smooth base ready for eye shadow. Once blended onto the eye, it dries pretty much instantly.

As well as being able to prime your eyes for eye shadow, this can also be used underneath the eyes before concealer to ensure concealer stays in place and doesn't crease; however, I can't comment on how effective this is as I've never used it this way.

As well as liking the actual product, I also really like the packaging. It comes in a reasonably sized tube with a doe-foot applicator meaning you don't overuse the product and can distribute the right amount onto your eyelids without overdoing it.

This primer costs £20.50 but its definitely worth it and lasts a very long time. I would highly recommend it, especially if you want a primer that does more than just prime.

Verdict

This Month's Playlist: March...

It's that time of the month again where I introduce you to what I've been listening to most throughout the month of March. If you'd like to take a look at my February playlist click here

Paloma Faith - Fall to Grace | I've been a huge lover of Paloma Faith since she first burst onto the music scene back in 2009 with her debut album 'Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?' featuring singles "Stone Cold Sober" and "New York". I absolutely adore her voice, its so distinctive, as soon as I hear a new song of hers on the radio, I instantly know its her. I was so happy last month when she received 'Best British Female Solo Artist' at the Brit Awards after being previously nominated in 2011 and 2013.  'Fall to Grace' is Paloma's second album, released in 2012, and features a mixture of pop, soul and R&B. My favourite tracks from this album are "Black and Blue", "Just Be", "Blood, Sweat & Tears" and "Beauty of the End"

Alt-J - This is All Yours |  'This is All Yours' is the second studio album from Alt-J following on from their 2012 debut, mercury prize winning album 'An Awesome Wave'. My favourtie tracks from the album are "Every Other Freckle", "Hunger of the Pine" and "Warm Foothills".

James Bay - Chaos and the Calm | James Bay may not have been on the music scene for very long but he is definitely making an impact. Most recently, he has won the Brit Awards, Critics Choice Award which has previously been won by the likes of Sam Smith, Jessie J and Tom Odell. Despite only downloading this album on Monday when it was released, I am loving it. The whole album is a combination of emotion and storytelling all accompanied by an uplifting beat. My favourite tracks from the album are "Craving", "Best Fake Smile", "Collide" and "If You Ever Want To Be In Love". I'm also obsessed with his Radio 1 Live Lounge cover of FourFiveSeconds - if you haven't heard it, click here

Motown | As someone with quite a diverse taste in music, Motown is definitely one of my favourite genres and this past month I've been listening to it quite a lot; in particular this 'Motown 50' album. Some of my favourite Motown singles include The Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go?", Diana Ross "Ain't No Mountain", Marvin Gaye "It Takes Two" and The Spinners "Its a Shame".

What have you been listening to this month?

Steal Her Style: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley...

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, along with Olivia Palermo and Blake Lively, is one of my style inspirations. She always looks so effortlessly chic. One of the biggest trends of the moment has to be the Burberry Cape and I love it but unfortunately, being a student means I can't justify spending £895. Luckily for myself, and you, I've found the perfect dupe!

Who's your style inspiration?

Splurge or Save...

Despite being a lover of high end makeup, I also love a good bargain (what beauty addict doesn't?!) Over the last few years, I'd definitely say drugstores have upped their game when it comes to cosmetics and you can definitely find some high end dupes amongst the shelves. In today's post I feature a few of those which I'd recommend.

Can you recommend any drugstore dupes for high end products?

Review: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer...

Before applying my foundation, I always apply a primer. I know a lot of people aren't totally sold on the purpose of primers and tend to skip over them in their routine but I definitely think they make a difference to my make up. After reading countless positive reviews about the multi-award winning Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, I finally caved and decided to try it out for myself.
Smashbox state that this primer 'creates a perfect canvas for foundation application' and I agree completely. The primer smooths beautifully onto my skin leaving it feeling silky and smooth and my foundation glides on effortlessly. Throughout the day, my foundation remains intact and the longevity of my blusher is definitely extended.

To apply this foundation, I take a pea sized amount on my fingers and massage it onto my skin about 5 minutes after applying my moisturiser and leave it to mould to my skin for about 2 minutes before going in with foundation.

Verdict

Statistics
Application: Fingers
Coverage: Light/Weightless

-Lightweight

-No scent
-Long lasting
-Mattifies skin
-Only need a small amount

Negatives
-None

I absolutely love this primer so much so I'm onto my second tube and have a third stashed away for when I run out!

Review: MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural...

MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural was the first MAC product I purchased and I've purchased at least another 6 since. I can't believe I've never featured it here on my blog!
MAC state that this powder is:

"A luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day."

I absolutely love this setting powder, it gives my skin a lovely, and as the name would suggest, natural coverage without looking cakey and flat. Throughout the day when my skin gets a little bit oily, all I need to do is apply this and my skin is instantly shine free.

This powder is available in 8 different shades so I'm sure there will be one out there that suits your skin tone.

Also, MAC have recently changed the packaging of this product making it a lot more sturdy - you even get a mirror which is always comes in handy for on-the-go touch ups.

Verdict

Statistics
My Shade: Light Plus
Application: Powder Brush
Coverage: Light
Finish: Smooth
Cost: £23

Positives
-Lightweight
-Doesn't look cakey
-Doesn't alter look of foundation
-Long lasting
-Nice packaging

Negatives
-Little pricey for a powder

Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo 'The Marvellous Transformer...

About three months ago, I started using Garnier Ultimate Blends 'The Marvellous Transformer' shampoo as my hair was looking rather lack-luster and the ends were feeling quite dry so whilst browsing the hair care aisle in Boots I decided to pick up this shampoo.

Garnier state that this shampoo is made for dry, dull hair which is definitely what my hair was getting like. In addition to this, they state it should give you incredible shine for up to 48hours.

After washing my hair with this shampoo, my hair feels refreshed and light. It also leaves my hair feeling lovely and smooth and this is most probably because it is infused with Moroccan Argan Oil and Japanese Camellia Oils.

Another big plus about this shampoo is the fact it contains no parabens meaning it doesn't strip your hair of all its natural goodness.

I have really been enjoying using this shampoo and I've definitely noticed a difference in the condition of my hair.

What's also great about this shampoo is the price, its only £3.89 for 400ml!

What shampoo has saved your hair?
