I CAVED | By Terry Ombre Blackstar Misty Rock...

As you might have seen in my latest haul,  I finally caved and bought By Terry Ombre Blackstar in the shade 'Misty Rock' a shade much loved by bloggers.
This eye shadow stick has a lovely creamy consistency which glides effortlessly onto the eyelid and is super blendable however, don't let the creaminess put you off because once it sets, its smudge-free, doesn't budge and doesn't crease! The creamy consistency also makes the eye shadow really easy to build so whether you want a wash of colour or an intense smokey eye, the By Terry Ombre Blackstar can do either.

'Misty Rock' is a mauve-y taupe shade with what I'd describe as a subtle pink undertone and because these eye shadows are formulated with Tahitian Black Pearl, they have a subtle shimmer to them which looks stunning when the light catches it instantly lifting the eye.

I absolutely love this shadow and have worn it every time I've worn make-up since purchasing it but I'm guessing your main question is do I think its worth the hefty price tag of £29? Well my answer is probably not when there are many other cream eye shadows out there on the market which do pretty much the same thing (take Mally Shadow Sticks for instance) but that's not to say I don't love it and that I wouldn't buy another one. I'm already lusting after 'Bronze Moon' and 'Frozen Quartz'!

Have you tried the By Terry Ombre Blackstar's?

This Month's Playlist: April...

Another month has rolled on by which means its time for another playlist! If you'd like to see last months, click here.
Florence + The Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful | Although the full album is yet to be released, I am absolutely loving the latest tracks which have been debuted. I have been a fan of Florence + The Machine for years, and their previous two albums are two of my favourites. Florence herself says the new album is about "trying to learn how to live, and how to love in the world rather than trying to escape from it". My favourite track so far is 'Ship to Wreck' (Flo loves a water reference!) The full album is to be released on May 29th and I can't wait to hear the rest of it.

Hozier - Hozier | I've loved Hozier since the first time I heard 'Take Me To Church'; his soulful-bluesy voice is unique and memorable making him instantly recognisable when a song of his comes on the radio. His debut self-titled album, is full of soulful folk tracks, a lot of which have a haunting vibe. Throughout the album, the tracks tend to focus on realism, each telling their own story. I love pretty much every track from the album but a few standouts are: 'In a Week', 'Angel of Small Death & The Codeine Scene', 'Someone New' and 'From Eden'.

What albums or songs have you been enjoying this last month?

The hierarchy of beauty brands...

Lets face it, there are hundreds thousands of beauty brands out there these days ranging from extremely affordable to quite luxurious. Unlike bags, shoes and cars, as a luxury makeup is harder to categories this is because high end makeup is a lot more accessible and affordable than these previously mentioned items meaning people of all different incomes can manage to purchase luxury makeup at some point.

In today's post, I'm going to share with you a hierarchy of some of my favourite brands in terms of where they fall in the spectrum of luxury and affordability.

In the Nude with Nails Inc...

When I was sorting through my nail polishes, one two things I noticed was 1) I own far too many, 131 to precise but hey who's counting and 2) Nails Inc have some gorgeous nude shades.
L-R: George Street, Colville Mews, Uptown, Mayfair Lane, St Martins Place
'George Street' is a dusky pink cream nude shade that looks stunning on fairer skin tones.

'Colville Mews' is a stoney beige nude.

'Uptown' is a gorgeous deep pink nude.

'Mayfair Lane' is a pale pink nude.

'St Martins Place' is a little bit of a different nude. Its a gold and nude glitter like polish which Nails Inc describe as "modern art effect". It's a stunning polish for adding a bit of an edge to your manicure either on an accent nail or all over.

Whether its Winter, Spring, Summer or Autumn I don't think you can go wrong with a nude polish and I love these ones from Nails Inc.

What's your favourite nude polish?

A Shrektacular Musical...

Back in mid March, myself and my mam went to Newcastle Theatre Royal to see 'Shrek the Musical' so granted, this review is well overdue!

For months and months, my mam had been going on about going to see 'Shrek the Musical' so as part of her Christmas present, I decided to buy us tickets. I have to admit, despite being a huge lover of the DreamWorks film, I wasn't overly enthused about going to see the musical as I thought it would be a bit more like a pantomime aimed at children. I was so so wrong.
'Shrek the Musical' is a greatly theatrical show and although there isn't a stand out song like the likes of 'Oh What A Night' from the Jersey Boys or 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked, it is joyous throughout with catchy uplifting beats.

What it may lack in a standout song, it certainly makes up for in the costume, make-up and props department (the dragon is amazing) -  it was incredible and the show wouldn't have been the same without them.
The acting was also astounding from all of the cast and although Dean Chisnell as Shrek and Faye Brookes as Princess Fiona were very well performed, the stand out for myself (and my mam) has got to be Gerard Carey as Lord Farquaad; he owned the stage in a way that has to be seen to be believed. And of course there was Donkey played by Idriss Kargbo who's portrayal of a sassy and cool Donkey brought the show to life.

The supporting cast were also outstanding, which included fairy tale characters such as Pinocchio, Peter Pan and The Three Little Pigs; together, they all made the songs more upbeat and infectious.
'Shrek the Musical' is truly Shrektactular.

To say much more would ruin the show so I'll leave it at that. If you haven't already been to see this infectious musical then I really suggest you do so whilst its still touring the UK (click here for tickets) and if you missed out on tickets for the North East, its coming back to Sunderland in September!

Have you been to see Shrek, if not what's your favourite musical?

15% Off Feel Unique Haul...

Last week, I just happened to hunt the internet for come across a discount code for 15% off at Feel Unique and obviously I couldn't resist spending some more money on beauty products.
First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads £22 | Acid toners are all the rage at the moment but because I have quite sensitive skin, I was a bit cautious about which one to go for so after researching a tone of them I  thought I'd start with what sounds like my safest option - the First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads. These pads are said to improve skin clarity, reduce visible pores and diminish the appearance of lines giving you brighter, clearer skin. I can't wait to start using these pads as I've read many great things about them.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar (Misty Rock) £29 | First on my list when I found the code was By Terry Ombre Blackstar. I have been lusting after this beautiful cream eye shadow for a long long time, practically ever since I first saw Tanya Burr use it in a tutorial. The only thing that was putting me off purchasing it was the hefty price tag but with 15% off I knew it was about time I bought it.

Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush £18.95 | I love make up brushes and I'm always willing to try new ones especially foundation brushes. I have seen a lot of people use this brush in make-up  tutorials and their foundation always ends up looking flawless. This is a flat top kabuki brush and I can't wait to try it out.

I will be reviewing these products individually on my blog in more detail over the next few weeks so keep an eye out. If you too would like to look out for Feel Unique discount vouchers click here.

Have you tried any of these products, what do you think of them?

Coachella Fashion: Weekend One...

Another year of Coachella is another year where I envy everybody there and this year, my envy was made even worse thanks to the snapchat feature over all of weekend.

Although I love music and love the look of festivals, I can't really imagine myself ever going to one as I hate the idea of camping and sharing a bathroom with 100,000 other people however, I think I'd definitely make the exception for Coachella.

I love to see what everyone is wearing at Coachella as its a lot hotter than festivals here in the UK and lets just say there was quite a bit of fringing going on.

Here are my favourite looks:
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & Alessandra Ambrosio
Paris Hilton & Jourdan Dunn
Chiara Ferrangi & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
What was your favourite look from the first weekend of this years Coachella?

Review: REN ClearCalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser...

A few months ago, I was on the hunt for a new morning cleanser and after reading countless reviews of countless facial cleansers, I decided it was time to purchase the REN ClearCalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser (now that's a mouthful!)
For about the last six months, I had been suffering from breakouts and my skin frequently felt sore and aggravated. What's more, my cheeks were quite congested so I wanted a product that was going to help towards combating this.

REN states this product "deeply cleanses and purifies, gently exfoliates to unclog skin and minimises the appearance of pore size".

Since purchasing this product about 2 months ago, I've used it every morning as my morning cleanse; I sometimes even leave it on whilst I brush my teeth as a mini face mask and I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin. My cheeks are definitely less congested, my pores less visible and my make up application has definitely improved.

What I love most about this cleanser is the fact it contains no parabens, sulphates or mineral oils making it super friendly for your skin. What it does contain is numerous bio extracts including French Kaolin Clay which absorbs impurities and excess oils, Zinc Gluconate to reduce inflammation, Salicilin which mildly exfoliates, flavonoids to decongest and reduce pore size, essential oils to heal the skin and leptospermones which have anti-microbial properties.

Verdict

Statistics
Skin Type: Combination/Oily/Blemish Prone Skin (although would probably be good for anyone!)
Application: Fingers
Size: 150ml
Cost: £19

Positives
-No parabens, mineral oils or sulphates
-Lots of bio extracts with helpful qualities
-Removes impurities and excess oils
-Not much needed for the whole face
-Gentle cleanser
-Can double up as a mask

Negatives
- I actually can't think of one! Although some people may not like the smell of clay.

I absolutely adore this cleanser and I'm so glad I picked it up. Now I want to try a lot more REN products as this was my first - can you recommend any?

Spring Cleaning Your Makeup Stash...

Lets be honest, when was the last time you cleaned your makeup bag? Well now we're into Spring, rather than doing the general Spring clean around the house, its time to give your makeup stash and makeup bag a good clear out.
Lets start with your makeup bag. Begin by emptying all of the contents - no doubt you'll find cotton buds, tissues and all sorts at the bottom BIN THEM! Then its time to put your makeup bag through the washing machine to get rid of any makeup spillages and bacteria that could be present.

Whilst you're waiting for your makeup bag to be washed, take some baby wipes or makeup wipes and wipe clean your product packaging removing any makeup stains making them look a lot cleaner and newer. Whilst sorting through the items from your bag, ask yourself is this dried up? How long have I been using this? If its a long time BIN IT! Mascara for instance, should be binned after 3/4 months.

Now onto your makeup stash. Be brutal. Get rid of products you know you never use or haven't used in at least a year and colours you know you'd never wear and don't suit. Whether this be binning them if they're really groggy, selling them on to other makeup fanatics or giving them to your family and friends.

Now you have de-cluttered your makeup stash you have the perfect excuse to buy the latest Spring goodies.

That 70's Trend...

The Spring/Summer 2015 catwalks were swamped by 70's trends. From hippy prints to towering platforms and flares there was no mistaking the 70's were back.

Despite this, nobody wants to be walking around like they're off to a fancy dress party, its all about mixing in 70's trends with your day-to-day wardrobe pieces; for instance, thinking of wearing a paisley printed blouse pair it with your favourite skinny's to give it an up-to-date edge.

Here are some of my favourite picks from the high street for pulling off the 70's trend.

Are you feeling the 70's trend?

Preparing for a date after work...

So you have a date after work but have no time to get ready in-between? Don't panic because these simple tips are sure to help you.
Tip 1 | Touch up your foundation with a concealer of a similar colour or use a tiny bit of your foundation to cover any patches that are beginning to appear allowing your base to look instantly flawless.

Tip 2 | If your face is feeling dry after a long day in the office apply a fine mist like MAC's Fix+ to give an instant moisture boost.

Tip 3 |  Don't go over-the-top on eye makeup, a simple little cat flick is all you need and a smudge of eyeliner in your waterline if you want to go for a slightly smokey look.

Tip 4 | Use a Q-tip to remove smudges from under the eyes and apply lashings of mascara to your lashes to give them volume and give you a wide awake look.

Tip 5 | Add a highlight to your cheek bones and the inner corner of your eyes to lift your face. I love Benefits 'Watts Up'.

Tip 6 | If you're wanting to add a pop of colour to your look, focus on your lips. Either a pinky-peach like YSL 'Peach Passion' looks lovely for a natural look or go for a daring red like MAC's 'Ruby Woo' if you're feeling adventurous.

Tip 7 | Dry shampoo. Its a must! It instantly refreshes your hair whilst adding plenty of volume and bounce.

And there you have seven simple tips to get you date ready in a matter of minutes.

What are your tips for going on a date straight from work?

My MAC Quad...

I've finally filled my MAC Quad and I love it her (yes her because something so beautiful should not be an it!)  I adore eyeshadows and MAC has to be one of my favourite brands for them; they're amazing quality - both super pigmented and easy to blend.
Woodwinked (Veluxe Pearl Finish) | Woodwinked was my first MAC eyeshadow. I fell in love after watching Tanya Burr use it in a tutorial so bought it to use for my 18th birthday makeup back in 2013. This is a beautiful golden bronze shade with orange undertones meaning it really shows off the blue in my eyes. I love the fact that once applied to the lid, if you blend it in the crease using a fluffy brush (I use MAC 217) it changes to a different tone making it look like you've applied two shadows but with half the effort.

Mystery (Satin Finish) | I bought Mystery to wear with Woodwinked in on the outer v of my eyelid. Mystery is a cool-toned gray brown and looks great to bring dimension to the eye.

Gleam (Lustre Finish) | Last Christmas, I received a Ted Baker makeup kit with 2 eyeshadows in and fell in love with them. Unfortunately I've hit pan and Ted Baker don't actually have a makeup range. So on the hunt for similar colours I knew I had to head to MAC. Upon entering my local MAC and heading to the eyeshadow counter I immediately noticed Gleam and knew it was what I was looking for. Gleam is a peachy-pinky nude and I love it. I'm yet to try it,  but I think this would look amazing applied with a damp brush.

Mythology (Lustre Finish) | The final shade in my MAC quad is Mythology. Mythology is a bronze, copper colour with a pinky-peach undertone. I love to use it in my crease and on my outer v paired with Gleam.

What is your favourite MAC eyeshadow?
