This Month's Playlist: July...

Can you believe it's almost the end of July already? I certainly can't! As we approach the end of the month, it means its time for yet another playlist here on the blog!

Walk the Moon - Talking is Hard | I'd never heard of this foursome up until I heard their very catchy song 'Shut Up and Dance' blasting out of the radio earlier this month. It's one of those songs that instantly puts you in a good mood so obviously I had to go and listen to their album which didn't disappoint. My favourite tracks from the album are 'Different Colours','Avalanche', 'Work This Body' and 'Aquaman'.

Hilary Duff - Breathe In. Breathe Out. | 10 years ago, if you weren't dancing and singing along to 'Wake Up' what the heck where you doing?! To this day, I can pretty much remember all of the words! And now 10 years later, Hilary Duff has finally graced us with a new album and I'm not afraid to admit I love it! I'd describe it as a peaceful pop album, give it a listen and I'm sure you'll know what I mean. My top tracks are: 'One in a Million', 'Confetti', 'Breathe In. Breathe Out', 'Stay in Love', 'Picture This' and 'Rebel Hearts.'

The Vaccines - English Graffiti | It's been 3 years since The Vaccines gave us an album but boy was it worth the wait. Their latest album sounds like The Vaccines but much more professional with certain tracks reminding you of bands like the Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and The Beach Boys. I think it's their best album yet! My fave tracks are: '20/20', 'Dream Lover', '(All Afternoon) In Love', 'Minimal Affection' and 'Give Me a Sign'.

Let me know what you've been listening to this month below!

Review: Sudocrem Skin Care Cream...

I've often read about celebrities like Cheryl Cole (apologies Fernandez-Versini) using Sudocrem to keep spots at bay, but I'll be honest, smearing my face in a cream most often used on babies bums never really appealed to me. However, a few weeks ago, when I was sent a tube of  Sudocrem Skin Care Cream*, which is a slightly different formulation, and there was no mention of babies bums, I thought I'd give it ago.

Sudocrem Skin Care Cream Review
The day before I received the sample, coincidentally, a spot had appeared on my on chin, one of those really painful ones that never comes to a head, making this the perfect opportunity to try it out. Before bed I applied the cream directly onto the spot, not expecting anything amazing; however, after about half an hour it definitely felt less sore and the next morning I was pleasantly surprised to see that the spot had reduced drastically in size and wasn't as red. Therefore, for the next 3-4 nights I applied the cream and eventually the spot was gone. (Stupidly forgot to take pictures *slaps wrist*)

The only real downside I found with this product was the area where the spot had been became quite dry but I'd much rather have a small dry patch of skin than a large spot on my face! For that reason, I'll probably only use this product on painful spots rather than my entire face.

You can pick a 30g tube of this up at Boots for the bargain price of £1.99 so if you're prone to spots I'd definitely recommend you get a tube.

Have you tried the Sudocrem Skin Care Cream?

6 Handbag Essentials...

A girls handbag often contains an abundance of items, from old receipts to loose change, there will be all sorts lying in there - one of a girls special talents is being able to turn even the smallest of handbags into Mary Poppins carpet bag!

Of course, there's the obvious items in my handbag, including my purse, keys and umbrella, but today, I'm going to share with you the essentials I have in pretty much all of my bags.
Things You'll Always Find in my Handbag
Chewing Gum or Mints
Pretty much an essential, I'm always popping mints into my mouth and they're great for after you've been eating.

Tissues
I'm never without a pack of tissues, even from a young age, I'd always carry a pack around in my bag. You just never know when you'll need them; it could be to wipe something, get rid of chewing gum or even worse, going to the toilet and there being no toilet paper.

Paracetamol
Simply because you never know when a headache will strike (and also because there's always that one friend who will ask if anyone has any paracetamol!)

Plasters
Mainly in case I get a blister but also useful for if you were to somehow cut yourself.

Pad/Tampon
Sometimes mother nature can arrive unexpectedly so its best to be prepared.

Pen
Although I use my phone for note taking 90% of the time, it's always good to keep a pen handy.

As you can probably tell, I'm definitely the granny of the group who's always prepared and definitely the person my friends know will have all of the above!

Review: La Roche Posay Serozinc...

La Roche Posay's Serozinc is another one of those beauty products that everyone talks about and wants to try. For a long time, it was only available overseas but thankfully, the skincare gods heard beauty blogger pleas and you can now readily purchase Serozinc in Boots and online.
Serozinc review
Serozin Review
So what is it? Serozinc is essentially a toner containing 3 simple ingredients: water, zinc sulphate and sodium chloride and is targeted towards oily and blemish-prone skin.

I have been using this toner every night after applying my Pixi Glow Tonic (review here) and I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin; although I don't use it in the morning, my skin is much less oily throughout the day and my make up stays much more in place, especially on my t-zone where it usually goes a bit patchy. As well as having less oil, I've also had a huge reduction in the number of large, painful blemishes (you know, those ones which feel like you're growing another head!)

To use this, I simply close my eyes and spray a fine mist over my face and leave it to soak in, but if you prefer, you can apply it to a cotton pad and simply sweep over your face.

For £8.50 a bottle this is without a doubt a product I'll now always have in my skincare stash and I'd definitely recommend this to those of you with oily or blemish-prone skin.

Have you tried Serozinc? Let me know what you thought below!

Review: Pixi Glow Tonic...

I'll be pretty surprised if you've never heard of Pixi Glow Tonic. It's a greatly loved product in the world of both blogging and beauty.
Pixi Glow Tonic review
Pixi Glow Tonic Review
Pixi Glow Tonic is described as an exfoliating facial glow tonic which helps to tone, tighten and firm skin, removing dead skin cells for healthier more vibrant looking skin.

It is made up of glycolic acid to gently exfoliate, aloe to soothe and hydrate, ginseng to promote cell health and skin vibrancy, witch hazel to firm and tone and horse chestnut to boost blood flow.

I've been using this for just over a month now, in place of the First Aid Beauty Pads, and I've got to admit, at first I couldn't really see much of a difference, but after a week, I definitely did. My skin feels a smoother and brighter but what I've noticed the most is how well my serums and moisturiser goes on and also how good my make up looks.

I use this toner every night as I have quite sensitive skin so don't want to over do it, but it is suitable to use twice a day. Just apply a few drops to a cotton wool pad, sweep it over you face and you're done.

At £18 a bottle for 250ml it's a bargain and I'll definitely be buying more.

Summer Sandals at Tesco...

If there's one thing I love about summer, its having an excuse to buy sandals. Whilst browsing the Tesco website, there were quite a few pairs that caught my eye so I thought I'd share them with you as they're perfect for those of you jetting off somewhere hot and those staying in sunny-ish England.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome: Golden...

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome (£8) is a stunning highlighter which aims to add a warm, natural shimmer to the high points of the face, no matter what your skin tone.
The creamy lightweight texture of this product allows it to effortlessly glide onto the skin and once applied, it gives a lovely subtle highlight.

The application of the product is also very easy, simply take of the cap and glide the dome onto wherever you want (I use it on my cheekbones) and then blend using your finger or a brush. You could also apply the actual product with a brush if you preferred but I like to apply it straight from the dome.

Their are three shades available: Golden, Pink and Bronze. I chose Golden which is a beautiful champagne colour with a hint of gold but I definitely plan on picking up the pink shade which looks like a creamy version of Nars Orgasm.

Verdict

Skin Type: All

Makeup at the Gym...

Wearing make up to the gym is just another thing woman are scrutinized for.

When I re-joined the gym at the beginning of June, although it is a ladies only gym, I was a bit apprehensive about going barefaced, probably because I often feel women are the one's who are the most judgy and because I'm not completely confident with my skin.

Although I didn't want to put on a full face and get all dolled up, I wanted to feel comfortable and confident as I'm a firm believer if you feel comfortable, you'll work out harder! So rather than going completely barefaced, I've been opting for a little bit of Benefits POREfessional on my t-zone, Collection Concealer to disguise my dark circles and any blemishes, a coating of mascara and a bit of lip balm therefore giving me a natural look.
One thing to remember if you do wear make up to the gym, even just a little, is to remove it immediately when you're done as it can clog your pores leading to breakouts; once I've washed mine off, I like to apply a little bit of TBS Warming Mineral Mask on my t-zone to ensure nothing sticks around in my pores.

Although I myself would never rock up to the gym with my Kim K smokey eye and full face of foundation, if that's what makes you feel most comfortable and confident go-ahead I'm not going to judge you and neither should other people!

Six Summer Essentials...

As we're now into the summer months, I thought it would be a good time to share with you my 6 summer essentials!
Body Lotion | Body lotion is a must have all year round, especially if you are prone to dry skin however, its a definite essential during the summer months as a lot more flesh is on show so you'll definitely want to be looking soft and smooth. My go-to body lotion is Soap & Glory's 'Daily Smooth' I've gone through bottles of the stuff, its £10 and lasts for ages!

Bright Nail Polish | Although I definitely prefer darker polishes like deep reds or simple nudes, once the summer sun arrives, I do like to paint my nails in something a little brighter, especially my toes, although nothing to garish. One of my favourite summer polishes is Models Own's 'Hedonist'.

SPF for Lips | When people are smothering themselves in sun cream, more often than not, they'll forget to protect their lips. This one from Ultra Sun is great, its great at protecting from harmful rays and also keeping your lips lovely and smooth. You can either wear it alone or under your favourite lipstick.

Sun Protection Cream | Probably the most obvious summer essential, sun protection cream. Although it doesn't get exceptionally hot in the UK, its still important to protect your skin from sun damage which can lead to skin cancers and aging. This one from Garnier is perfect for everyday use.

Foot Cream | Hello sunshine, goodbye winter boots! For most people, the appearance of sun often means the winter boots get packed away and the summer sandals make an appearance (well it does for me anyway!) Therefore, its vital that your feet are kept in tip-top condition as nobody likes the sight for hard skin on the soul of feet. This one from Soap and Glory is lovely!

Hydrating Toner | On those days when you're taking the opportunity to sit in the sun, a hydrating toner is a must to keep your face hydrated and cool, this one from Liz Earle is one of my personal favourites.

What are your summer essentials?
