Get the Glow with Laura Geller Baked Highlighter...

The contouring trend was everywhere last year and it still looks like it's going to continue this year; although it looks good on other people I've strayed away out of fear of looking A) like a clown or B) like I've had the world's worst fake tan disaster!

Like contouring last year, this year looks like its going to be a big year for highlighting A.K.A strobing and this is a trend I'm far more comfortable with.
This stunning, illuminating baked highlighter from Laura Geller is perfect for all your glow-y requirements; use on your cheek bones for a flattering glow, your brow bone to make your eyes look wider and more awake, along the bridge of the nose for definition and on your cupids bow for the perfect pout.

This silky highlighter, like most of Laura Geller's other products, starts its life as a cream and is then baked for 24 hours on terracotta tiles making it both paraben and mineral oil free.

This has already become my favourite highlighter in my makeup collection but I'm sure I'll be adding more!

What's your go-to highlighter for glowing skin?

Brands I Want to Try in 2016...

2016 is definitely the year I want to try more brands rather than sticking to ones I'm more familiar with. There are quite a few I could name but these ones below are top of my list!

Charlotte Tilbury was one of the most talked about brands of 2015. OK so technically I have tried it (I got the Bitch Perfect lipstick for Christmas) but there's so much more I want need to try from her. Including her much raved about magic cream, the magic skin foundation and I definitely need an eyeshadow quad!

Zoeva is well loved in the blogging world, especially their brushes every blogger seems to own one expect for me. Well that's going to change! I love the look of the rose gold collection and I've heard the quality is amazing - any excuse for yet more brushes right?! Lately, I've also seen a lot of bloggers raving about their eye shadow palettes so being an eyeshadow addict, I'll be picking one of these up too.

Lets face it, since contouring came on the scene, ABH has blown up however, its not the contour kit I want to get my hands on, it's her new Glow Kits they look amazing!

I'm a huge fan of face masks and lots of people seem to love the Aesop ones! The one I want in particular is the Parsley Seed mask, I've heard its incredible and really does make a difference to your skin which is exactly what everyone wants from a mask.

Can you recommend any more products from these brands I should try? And what brands are you wanting to try in 2016?

Review: Stila 'Eyes are the Window' Palette in Soul...

Back in mid 2015, I got my hands on the stunning Stila 'Eyes are the Window' Palette in Spirit and it quickly became my go-to palette and I was immediately wanting to add another to my collection and I already knew it was going to be Soul.
Stila Soul Palette
Stila Soul Palette
This palette is unlike any other in my makeup collection consisting mostly of taupe toned shadows with hints of coppers. There are 12 shadows in total 7 of which are metallic and 5 of which are matte. The texture and pigmentation of these shadows is amazing as is the longevity. My favourite shades from the palette are Affection, Thought and Vitality; the only shades I can't see myself using are Substance and Essence as I usually go for more warm toned looks.

Here's an overview of the shades:
Stila Soul Palette
 Light - Cream
Individual - Caramel Brown
Being - Chocolate Brown
Stila Soul Palette
 Kitten - Champagne
Affection - Deep Copper
Character - Dark Brown with hints of Red Glitter
Stila Soul Palette
 Thought - Bronze Taupe
Heart - Pink Taupe
Peace - Redish Copper
Stila Soul Palette
Vitality - Gold
Substance - Blue Toned Grey
Essence - Black

Although I'd probably say I prefer the Spirit palette, I am enjoying using Soul to create different looks; I'm currently enjoying using Affection all over the lid and blended out just for a simple smokey eye with liner and lashings of mascara.

You can pick this palette up for £30; however its quite hard to find in stores but is available online from a few different retailers including Cult Beauty and Look Fantastic.

Have you got any of the Stila palettes?

Best Dressed 2016 | Golden Globes...

Last night, the Golden Globes officially marked the start of the 2016 award season. I love this time of year, not for finding out who has won what, but to see what everyone is wearing!

I have to say, I was a little disappointed by some of the outfits, with no one in particular standing out for me but there's many more award ceremonies to come where they can make up for it.

With that being said, here's my favourites from the night...
 Jenna Dewan-Tatum | Zuhair Murad
Jennifer Lawrence | Dior Haute Courture
Lady Gaga | Atelier Versace
Laverne Cox | Elizabeth Kennedy
Lily James | Marchesa
Taraji P Henson | Stella McCartney

Who was your best dressed at last nights Golden Globes?

4 Goals for Two Thousand and Sixteen...

The start of a new year for most people involves setting themselves a few goals for the year ahead, most of which will be completely brushed under the carpet by February (mine included).  This year however, I'm decided to set more realistic goals and hopefully this will make me more determined to stick to them.

1. Pass my theory and driving test | I finally started to learn to drive mid last year so this year, I want to pass my driving test which will hopefully happen in the first half of the year. I've already got my theory test booked so I'll be one step closer to achieving this!

2. Read more | I love to read but since starting university I barely pick up a book that isn't a textbook, last year, I only managed to read 3 books. I'm going to learn to take a break from my work and switch off the technology now and again in order to read more. Maybe I'll actually get some of the books read from last years reading list (here)!

3. Get a placement for my degree | I'm currently in my second year of university, and trying to find a year long placement I'm hoping to have one sorted by September as this is definitely an experience I'd like to have.

4. Attend a blogger event | I'm quite a shy person around people I don't know therefore, despite getting invites to a few blogging events over the last year, I've never gone to any. This is definitely something I'd like to change as they always look so good and I'm always disappointed I didn't go when I see people blogging about them.

What are your goals for 2016?

2015 Favourites: Beauty Edition...

I can't quite believe another year has gone by and here I am, once again, rounding up my yearly beauty favourites. 2015, was definitely the year I became more adventurous with my skincare and it was also the year I discovered my signature fragrance.
Once over, if someone asked me which neutrals palette to go for, I'd typically recommend the Naked palettes but not now. This delightful number from Stila is absolutely stunning and quickly became my favourite palette not long after purchasing it. It contains a mixture of both warm and cool toned shadows all of which have incredible pigmentation and blend amazingly allowing you to create multiple stunning eye looks. Overall, if you're after a new neutrals palette, head to Stila!

This is without a doubt my all-time favourite mascara and that's a big claim! When it comes to mascara, I have high expectations; I want my lashes to be voluminous and lengthened and for them to still to look as good at 8pm as they do at 8am and this is a mascara which does that for me.

This eye cream from Khiel's is probably one of the most talked about beauty products in the bloggersphere and after deciding to try it out for myself, I can completely see why. It gently protects the under eye area by delivering intense moisture and as someone with sensitive eyes, I've had no issues so I'd highly recommend it.

After being scared of acids since a bad experience with Alpha-H Liquid Gold, I finally plucked up the courage to try another one and that's when I introduced Pixi Glow Tonic to my skincare routine. This exfoliating tonic helps tone, tighten and firm skin and removes dead skin cells for healthier more vibrant looking skin. Although my skin is still far from perfect, I've definitely noticed a reduction in big breakouts since introducing this to my routine and thankfully, its mild enough for even those with sensitive skin.

This is another new introduction to my skincare routine, and like Pixi Glow, I thank it for the reduction in my breakouts. Despite pretty much being water in  a can with a couple of added ingredients, I can't imagine not using this product. As well as a reduction in breakouts, I've definitely noticed a difference in my overall skin condition; it's less oily throughout the day and my make up stays much more in place, especially on my t-zone.

Everyone has their signature fragrance, a fragrance that people recognise them by and know its them in the room when they can smell it - Thierry Mugler 'Alien' has become mine. Over the last year, Alien has become my go-to fragrance, I always seem to pick it up despite having an abundance of them on my dressing table. Every time I wear it, someone will compliment me on the scent and what I love most is you can still smell it after hours of wear. I'd describe this as a rich floral-woody fragrance and I absolutely love it.

This was my first ever Sigma brush and I love it for applying my foundation; since I got it, I don't recall using another brush. The densely packed bristles helps build a medium to full coverage which most days, is exactly what I'm after.

Although I don't use micellar water to remove my entire face of make up, for about the last 6 months, I've been using it to remove the majority of my eye make up before going in with cleanser; I've found this to be much more gentle on my eyes and this one from Garnier is just as good as higher end brands like Bioderma.

Hair care is definitely an area I've tried to get more into over the last year. After seeing Lucy & Lydia raving about this product, I had to give it a try myself and I can see why they liked it so much. It leaves my hair feeling super soft and I've noticed that my hair is suffering from much less breakage.

What were your 2015 favourites?
